By definition, grips are those small attachments to the handles of devices. It is usually placed there to enhance one's clasp of the object. Soft grips are commonly made of foam or rubber, and at times, a combination of both. It is placed on lightweight objects such as paintbrushes and scissors to medium sized tools like wrenches and clippers.

Soft grips are used on devices where comfort is of primary concern. It is most applicable to wrenches because it also reduces strain on the hands and on the lever. Laborers who usually use power tools should prefer the brands that provide soft grips so that their hands will be more protected. Sometimes, just using gloves is not enough. The softness of the grip should not be the primary concern when purchasing. Elasticity should also be a factor. Soft grips tend to be more fragile compared to plastic and metal grips. It will wear out over time. Check out the substance used. It may be soft enough, but would it also withstand daily use?

Several formulations are added to rubber to achieve softness and toughness at the same time. These tools might cost more, but is worth the price. Be familiar of the stuff the product is made out of with so that you can be guided accordingly.

Soft grips are the selling point of most tools. This means that the added feature merits trying. If you are going to buy a tool, select the one with the most relaxed feel on your hand. It might take a few tries before finding the perfect match, but it sure will be your favorite tool.
