In tennis, your racquet is your best friend. Your game will rely on how you and racquet performs. If you have good partnership with your racquet, chances are, you will win the game quite easily. The very thing that is between you and your racquet is the grip. Being so, it is important to select the right grip because your whole game may depend on it.
In selecting racquets, select the grip size that matches your hand flawlessly. If that is not attainable, then select the one with a smaller grip. It can always be enlarged by adding a shrink sleeve or an overgrip. But if the grip is too large for you, there is little you can do about it. Modifying a large grip racquet to fit you could cause racquet imbalance.
There are two types of tennis racquet grips: the replacement grip and the overgrip. Every tennis racquet has one replacement grip. Although it is possible to install two, it is not advisable. If done so, the racquet would lose it shape and the player will find it hard to use. The replacement grip is the one that is installed directly over the racquet's handle.
The overgrip on the other hand, is the one placed above the replacement grip. It is wrapped around it. Players use overgrip to make the grip feel better and fit perfectly. Overgrips are replaced from time to time. The material used for an overgrip is thinner and less durable compared to replacement grips. But it is softer and better to the touch. Overgrips are also supposed to increase tack between the racquet and the hand.
Tennis is a fine game considering the complete exercise you will get while playing it. The only instrument to use is the racquet. To be a good tennis player, one should be selecting their racquet suitably.
